I hope me and my family have a fun time at the tropical island we are going to! The place we are going to is called Jamaica. I am going to stay at the Marriott hotel! The next day we go to the airport to leave for Jamaica! I can not wait to go! If you were going to a tropical island like Jamaica would you be exited? Tell why or why not!
I am finally in Jamaica. I am going to talk about the beach first. The sand is so soft it feel’s like you could do anything when you are on it. I found two conch shells they were cracked a little bit because the animal had to get out of it sometime or the other. It was amazing I just found them laying there. I got a necklace that was hand carved it is a moon. The tide really came in on Tuesday. I just love spending time with my family so much. I kind of miss all of my friend’s. I went snorkeling for the first time but I didn’t really like it all because of the sword fish they kind of freaked me out. If you went snorkeling would you be afraid of a fish that look’s like they might be able to hurt you? Tell why or why not.
One day my family went out to the beach and I found two more conch shells laying behind a tree. Now I have 4 conch shells. There might be a crab living inside
The lazy river was my second favorite thing to do. My first beach. It was all very fun though. I saw a star fish when we went kayaking with my family. We also went for a banana boat ride but I did not like it. We were going to go for a ride on the sailboat but we couldn’t. At least we got to go on a thing that look’s a lot like a hot air balloon but is not a hot air balloon.
I got my hair braided down at the other beach. Even though it took a while to braid it my hair was finally finished.
IT WAS FUN!!!!
The End

Sarah asks: "If you were going to a tropical island like Jamaica would you be exited? Tell why or why not!"
YES i would be SO excited! I am a little bit envious of you, Sarah, because i have never been to a tropical island. So i can really identify with how you felt before you left for your vacation. I would be excited for the beaches, and seeing the clear water in such bright bright colors that we don't get get "up north" here in America! I would also be excited because i LOVE to fly! I am always amazed when i fly, that here i am, sitting in a soft chair, drinking 7-Up and watching TV, and the ground is thirty-three THOUSAND FEET BELOW ME!
I noticed that one of the first things you said about the beach was how soft the sand is- my mom said the same thing about when they went to hawaii- how "our" sand is really very very coarse, and the sand of the tropics is so incredibly soft... last time i was at Shedd Aquarium (here in chicago) it dawned on my WHY the sand in the tropics is so soft and ours isn't. our sand is made up of rocks, pebbles, and shells that have been ground down by the waves. the white sand of the tropics is made of old coral that has been ground down into powder, and because coral is a chemical compound called calcium carbonate, it's soft and more easily breaks down into itty bitty particles. like chalk, sorta. but not really. ask your dad. he's a chemist. :)
okay, science lesson's over, sorry. but isn't God amazing- how well His world works itself out- rock hard coral turning into the finest softest sand anywhere.
And He is amazing because we get to experience His world bit by bit. i'm so glad you got to go to Jamaica! Love you all, Emily in Chicago
PS- i'll answer your swordfish question next time.
Dear Emily,
Thank you for answering my question I thought no one would answer it! Do you know when you are going to come up and visit? It's been a long time since I've seen you!
SARAH!
